On November 13, 2019, Li Shu discussed legal opinion writing at YunTing’s 57th lecture on professional skills and practice standards.
The course covered identifying the client’s needs, translating commercial concerns into legal questions, preparing and researching, structuring analysis and developing solutions. It emphasized that the work product should respond to the client’s actual objectives.
Li Shu also considered the relationship between legal analysis, litigation documents, lawyer letters and advisory opinions. He addressed essential components, language and structure, and adjustments for novel issues and different audiences. Lawyers and assistants from inside and outside the firm attended.
