Li Shu, founding partner of Beijing YunTing Law Firm, was invited to China Coal Technology and Engineering Group Corporation to deliver a seminar entitled “Construction Compliance Guidance and Legal Risk Prevention: Common Issues, Representative Cases and Response Strategies.” Heads of relevant headquarters departments, subsidiaries and business divisions took part.
Identifying risks throughout the project lifecycle
With reference to the requirements of the Measures for Compliance Management of Central Enterprises, the course examined key legal risks in bidding and consortium bidding, contract execution and performance, survey and design management, subcontracting, construction records and claims, procurement, final settlement, environmental protection, energy conservation and emissions reduction.
Drawing on representative construction cases and judicial reasoning, Li Shu discussed contractual disputes, claims and the allocation of responsibility at different project stages. Risk checklists accompanied the discussion of practical methods for identifying and addressing risks and conducting compliance reviews.
Questions grounded in project practice
Participants raised issues encountered in their project work. Li Shu addressed the relevant compliance boundaries, preservation of evidence and available approaches to resolving disputes. The training connected legal requirements with routine project management to help business personnel identify and address risks as projects progress.
