On 4 December 2024, YunTing published Fanglü’s “The Younger Generation” interview with founding partners Li Shu and Tang Qinglin. This article organizes the interview by theme and preserves the fact that both lawyers were interviewed and jointly founded the firm. Figures about the firm describe the position at the time of the interview.
Career experience and collaboration. After postgraduate study, Li Shu worked in legal affairs and investment and financing at a listed company. That experience influenced his practice direction and understanding of corporate clients. The two interviewees met while working at the same firm, combined their complementary practices into a team and later co-founded YunTing.
Firm management. The interview describes the transition from team partner to firm manager, with responsibilities for administration, finance, branding, operations and partner collaboration. Li Shu emphasized direct communication, prompt action and timely review and adjustment. Both founders valued listening to one another and considering colleagues’ perspectives.
Development and geographic reach. According to the interview, the firm’s business grew during January–October 2024 and its practicing lawyers numbered nearly 200. YunTing expanded its team and geographic coverage in response to client and business needs, establishing offices in Wuhan, Urumqi, Xuzhou and Lianyungang. Li Shu emphasized gradual development grounded in lawful, compliant and sound operations.
Professional knowledge. Li Shu founded the Fake Diguo and Asset Preservation and Enforcement platforms to share research and experience from practice. Specialist platforms operated by Tang Qinglin and the firm’s official account added further channels. At the time of the interview, the five accounts had a combined subscriber total exceeding 1.3 million, and the YunTing Legal Practice Series comprised more than 40 books.
Turning casework into shared knowledge. Li Shu encouraged lawyers to continue organizing research, analysis and findings after completing a case and turn practical questions into articles useful to peers, clients and other readers. Sustained writing, research and publishing also became important methods of internal knowledge management and professional development.
Developing talent. The interview describes long-running weekly professional lectures and fortnightly partner discussions on client communication, pricing, negotiations, business development and teamwork. Both interviewees considered professional competence and market development skills important and sought to help younger lawyers avoid unnecessary difficulties in their careers.
Team culture. Li Shu and Tang Qinglin jointly emphasized professionalism and collegiality, sharing and collaboration, and opportunities for younger lawyers. The interview concludes with the mutual growth of the firm and its lawyers, reflecting on almost six years since YunTing’s establishment.
